Graydon's survey: bankruptcy figures Europe
The yearly survey conducted by Graydon's study centre has revealed some interesting facts about bankruptcy numbers in 2007.
- Bankruptcy figures continued to drop in
2007, but the decline is less sharp than in 2006. The decrease is 3
percent for the 15 states that were EU-member before 2004, and 0.7
percent for the entire European Union
- Results vary a lot between European countries: Germany shows a sharp decrease of 10 percent, while France shows a sharp rise in bankruptcies
- Differences in bankruptcy legislation make
it hard to compare cases between countries. For example, low bankruptcy
figures in Eastern European countries may result from a poor
legislation or enforcement thereof.
To conclude: the European market as a whole is less insolvent than the
year before, but large differences and insecurities remain. (Source:
