I remember walking in this office 20 years ago, impressed with the task ahead: serving an enterprise with a history that goes even further back than KLM or Royal Dutch Shell... A humbling feeling indeed.
As old as the invention of trade
The business we operate in is old-fashioned and cutting-edge at the same time. On the one hand, the concept of credit risk is as old as the time mankind invented trade. No caveman knew of credit rating or risk management, but still we could probably teach him the concept in ten minutes. As even our distant ancestors must have known, the quality of information comes down to the quality of the network you gather it from. And our network is excellent, especially in Europe.
New tools
Aside from this old principle, the techniques to gather and distribute credit information have changed and improved a lot since the early days. Software solutions are an important aspect of this business now, and will increasingly be so in the future. It is no longer just about a printed report: credit data are now the raw materials, streaming over the internet and ready to be customized based on individual demands. We are happy to take an active part in this development.

Earlier I mentioned my feeling of humbleness. Over the course of the years, that humbleness has slowly been replaced by a modest sense of pride.
